Case Study: Combining Webinar and Face to Face Training

WebinarThe Requirement:

An integrator Upgraded their client from Windows XP and Office 2003 to Windows 7 and Office 2010 and engaged ‘Raising the Bar’ to up-skill their client’s staff and help them understand the key differences between the two versions of MS Office and the Windows platforms. The client also uses Project and they were upgraded from Project 2003 to Project 2010. The team, located in three different states of Australia were identified as being quite computer literate and are a Company of Project Managers.

The teams and locations were as follows:
Sydney – Approximately 15 end users
Melbourne – Approximately 15 end users
Brisbane – Approximately 5 end users
Time and budget were both key factors when developing a solution to meet the client’s requirement

Solution Provided:

The focus of the upgrade training was to be on Outlook, Excel and Word with some time also spent on Microsoft Project. ‘Raising the Bar’ produced a suggested outline for the training that would be required and had the client review it to ensure that everyone’s expectations were aligned.
After reviewing the outline, it was agreed that the one day’s worth of content was suitable however, due to busy work commitments, the client requested that the delivery of the training be in two, half-day sessions. The half-day sessions were delivered in a seminar-style at the client’s premises in both Sydney and Melbourne. Raising the Bar’s Melbourne-based trainer was delivered the Melbourne sessions.

Session 1 on day 1- 9 am to 12:30 pm
Session 2 on day 2- 9 am to 12:30 pm

Rather than use up valuable time and money by flying the Brisbane-based team down to Sydney, the client was able to make good use of the technology that they already had in place. The Brisbane team sat in on the Sydney sessions via Webinar.

Session times wer as follows:
Session 1 on day 1- 9 am to 12:30 pm
Session 2 on day 2- 9 am to 12:30 pm

Raising the Bar provided post-course notes in PDF format for participants in the sessions to print out should they wish to refer to them.

Outcome:

Using a combination of face to face, seminar style training, incorporating the use of Web-based audio and video technology, ‘Raising the Bar’ were able to deliver a cost effective, tailored training session for approximately 35 people in a time efficient manner.
The feedback from our client;
“Spoke to the customer after the training today and the feedback was very positive – you’ve certainly “raised the bar”. “I will absolutely refer customers to you guys”
