PHP is an open source, general-purpose, server-side scripting language originally designed for Web development to produce dynamic Web pages. PHP is an acronym for it’s original form: “Personal Home Page tools”, but it now represents "Hypertext PreProcessor".
It is embedded into HTML source code rather than as an external file and does not require specialised software. It can be used to create elements such as username and password login pages, detail-checking for forms, forums, picture galleries, surveys and blogs such as WordPress. For a career in the web design/web scripting industry, today PHP coupled with MySQL database management are considered essential skills to have in your web development toolbox.
